Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Flávia Lana Garcia de  and  DARRIBA, Vinicius Anciães. On the importance of parental transmission of desire for psychoanalysis from a case of childhood obesity. Estilos clin. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.2, pp. 265-278. ISSN 1415-7128.  http://dx.doi.org/10.11606/issn.1981-1624.v20i2p265-278.

We seek to demonstrate the importance of parental transmission of desire in the psychic constitution of the child from the studies of Freud and Lacan, pointing to the structuring role of maternal and paternal functions as transmitters of symbolic operators in the regulation of the jouissance in the social bond. A clinical situation involving the phenomenon of childhood obesity allows us to infer the barriers experienced by a child in the subjectivation of his body due to the precariousness of these symbolic functions. Thus we inferred how a familiar discursive disturbance can result for a child in a significant fragility of the process of assumption of sexual difference and its inscription on generational succession.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; family; obesity; body; parental transmission.
