Abstract

SCHNEIDER, Ciomara  and  TAFURI, Maria Izabel. The dialectic of breastfeeding and weaning in the psychic constitution of the autistic child. Estilos clin. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.3, pp. 468-487. ISSN 1415-7128.  http://dx.doi.org/10.11606/issn.1981-1624.v22i3p1-20.

The article discusses the effects of breastfeeding and weaning on the subjective constitution of the subject. We analyzed the emergence of a compulsion to ingest non-food substances in an autistic child after weaning. We use Klein's and Lacan's theory, sharing similarities and differences in the initial psychic constitution. We conclude that compulsions may appear as a way of expressing the anguish of the baby facing the loss of the primordial objects of psychic organization at an early age, but not only linked to breastfeeding. We understand that the child's psychic resources tend to build defenses of repetition against separation anxiety.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; breastfeeding; autism; psychic constitution.
