Abstract

PASSONE, Eric. Does "evaluative furor" as a social symptom of Brazilian education?. Estilos clin. [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.3, pp. 439-453. ISSN 1415-7128.  http://dx.doi.org/10.11606/issn.1981-1624.v25i3p439-453.

Based on research praxis in the field of Psychoanalysis and Education studies, in which the denial of the impossible dimension of educating returns as the impotence of knowledge and failure, this article puts in suspicion the apparatus of school management and evaluation which it provides support for what is considered a true political-pedagogical imposture in the Brazilian fashion: standardized educational assessments associated with performance goals and school accountability devices. The reflection on the "evaluative furor" refers to the symbolic denial in the socio-political field as a social symptom implicated in Brazilian education. In spite of what one might think of the national pedagogical imaginary, the "evaluative furor" is inscribed in the register of a fantasy of access to unlimited enjoyment - insofar as it evaluates exactly what is not taught - a portrait of this search for excessive enjoyment related to "fantasy of Brazil".

Keywords : educational evaluation; Brazilian education; educational management; psychoanalysis and education; social symptom.
