The objective of this study was to describe and characterize the expressed claims and the diagnosis indicators identified in the files of three families undergoing family in-home psychotherapy, under the responsibility of Umesp’s school-clinic of Psychology. After the organization of the files, the collected data were analyzed using the family dynamics’ point of view. The results showed fragile family structures, massive use of regressive defense mechanisms, and the unconscious choice of a family member as a scapegoat. The study indicates the importance of this kind of psychotherapy for the treatment and prevention of pathologies.
