Abstract

PALUDETTI**, Leonilde Rodrigues de Sousa  and  HELENO***, Maria Geralda Viana. The quality of life of women patients in a clinic for human reproduction. Psicol inf. [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.16, pp. 163-177. ISSN 1415-8809.

This paper aims to evaluate the QOL of female patients in a Human Reproduction clinic. This is a quantitative, descriptive and cross- -sectional study that used as instruments the WHOQOL-bref, the socioeconomic evaluation form (Abipeme) and the patients’ medical records. The sample was composed by 124 women with 35 years old in average. The SPSS was used as reference for the statistical analysis and the WHOQOL-bref was used as recommended by the WHO. The average infertility period was of 4 years, while 22 (18%) had miscarriages and two (2%) had induced abortions; 11 (9%) had children from a previous marriage, and six (5%) had children from the present marriage. As to the treatment, 37 (30%) had already been through treatment before. Regarding the socioeconomic status, five participants (4%) belonged to classes A and B, 73 (59%) belonged to class C, 41 (33%) were in class D, and 5 (4%) in Class E. Overall, it was observed that the QOL of the women in this study was just above regular. In multiple comparison, there was significant statistical evidence that the women had less satisfaction when referring to the safety of the environment. We conclude that several areas of these women’s life are impacted considering QoL, including the economic area.
