The present work analyzes depression during the adolescence, including four individuals, two male and two female, with ages between 13 and 18 years and who were attended at the Hospital Universitario Walter Cantidio in July, 2004. We used quality research as a reference theoretical methodology grounded in psychoanalytic theory. The comprehension of depression in adolescence was centered in the analysis of mourning regarding childhood body loss, idealized parents and childhood identity. Information gathering was based on the application of the Thematic Apperception Test. We observed that conflict thrusts, story outcomes, and the relationship between story themes and picture cards, extracted from adolescents stories utilizing picture cards, were correlated with the process of mourning inherent to the adolescence process.
