The authors present the results of a study that privileged the paternal speech from the decurrent experience of the premature birth of the son and the beginning of the internment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, together with the observations made day-by-day when following the families in this situation. Relations are established with the Stern proposition (1997), as far as the possibility of the father experimenting the "fatherhood constelattion" as well as relativizes the concept of "engrossment" considered by Klaus and Klaus (2000) for the functioning of the father, in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The necessary ones and indicated interventions with the paternal figure in the Neonatal Intensive Units finish the article arguing.
