Abstract

MEDEIROS, Danuta  and  PINTO JUNIOR, Antonio Augusto. Um estudo sobre a estruturação egóica de profissionais hospitalares por meio do questionário desiderativo. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2006, vol.9, n.1, pp. 91-99. ISSN 1516-0858.

As we are aware of the hospital has been considered by many people a place where death and pain are intensively found. Working in this kind of environment has been considered a difficult and unhealthy activity, according to some of its features and as well because of its working conditions. Most of the health professionals when facing such situations of extremely anxiety. they have developed some kinds of self-defense mechanisms, that are used as shield when dealing with depression, mainly the ones that are in direct contact with in bed patients. This research has aimed to understand their subjectivity, self-approach and self-defense mechanisms applied inside the hospital environment. And to reach some goals, it was applied the Desiderative Questionnaire to 40 professionals (doctors, nurses, speech therapists and physiotherapists). The analyzed data has pointed out that the health professionals, as any human beings, have presented some difficulties to understand and face death and the termination, however they have been adapting themselves, keeping an adequate self-integrity to accomplish their professional roles, using some self-defense resources, sometime more evolutional, such as the sublimation, or sometimes more primitive ones, such as the negative.
