Public health assistance is a complex task and its approach and interventions must be based on different variables considering their intersections. In this context, putting the interdisciplinary concept into practice is necessary. One way of action that is based on this concept is consultation-liaison. This study aimed to review, mainly in PubMed and SciELO databases, literature that addresses psychological consultation-liaison in order to clarify the contributions of such practice for the integral attendance of the health system users, and also pointing out the constraints that must be overcome. It is known that the consultation-liaison favors the humanization of care and enriches the professional formation. There is a consensus on the concept of consultation-liaison , but its practice still needs research with appropriate methodological design and with an approach that addresses interventions' outcomes, particularly in the psychological field in which few researches are found. From this study a contribution to the spreading of this the referred service is expected as well as the stimulation of new research that will help improve and guide the psychological consultation-liaison care.
