The profession of nursing has the task of providing assistance to survivors of other, ensuring their well-being physical and emotional. So the hospital environment by dealing with depressed people, pain, suffering and death, becomes an environment highly conducive to situations of stress, which is persistent, can lead the employee to develop Burnout Syndrome. The purpose of this study was to verify the existence of the association between the syndrome Burnout and demographic variables, and psychosocial professionals in 131 nursing professionals in a general hospital in Porto Alegre. It was used as a tool to search the MBI - Maslach Burnout Inventory (HSS), the Survey of Satisfaction at Work (S20/23) and a questionnaire designed specifically for this study for the other variables. The results indicate high level of Professional Conduct and average rates of Exhaustion Emotional and Depersonalization. It also shows up greater association between dimensions of Burnout and labour and psychosocial variables.
