Abstract

LUSTOSA, Maria Alice. Brief Psychotherapy in General Hospital. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2010, vol.13, n.2, pp. 259-269. ISSN 1516-0858.

The application of brief psychotherapeutic treatment dates back to Freud, and got his start as part of psychoanalysis. However it cannot be confused with it, at the time it departs on methodological issues, and becomes a well-defined field with its own methodology and technique. With the entry of Psychology at the General Hospital, the Brief Psychotherapy becomes a welcome alternative to the demands of clinical situations, mainly in ambulatory applications where this technique is suitable for setting and demands its implementation. Its application enriches the work of psychology in hospital settings, and their characteristics fit perfectly there.
