Abstract

Mind-body connection in early childhood development. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.1, pp. 142-164. ISSN 1516-0858.

This article intends to reflect on the question of the body in psychoanalysis. The theme of mind-body relationship, so little studied in the psychoanalytical thought, was in the center of the Freud’s attention: "the ego is, above all, a corporeal-ego". Over the time, there was an increasing separation between the body and the mind; this separation is not sustainable by Freudian reading and was generating a great discomfort in psychoanalysis, making it inoperative to face the pathologies and demands of the modern times.

Keywords : Ego; Body; Link theory; Third topic; Dual relationship; Mother-baby’s constellation; Trauma; Helplessness; Interpretative Attitudes; Continent; Objetalizating function.
