Every child, especially those subjected to a process of hospitalization have the need to express their feelings to minimize your anxiety level. The research was based on qualitative study of a prospective, observational and descriptive, focusing on depressive symptoms in children when the process of admission. Data collection was the universe Ulbras University Hospital over a period of 12 months. The study population consisted of 10 children aged 07 to 12 years old, of both sexes admitted to the pediatric unit. The instruments, Child Depression Inventory (CDI) and the Mood Analog Scale were applied after Child toy steering performed with the patient by a psychology intern, allowing to conclude that there is great therapeutic benefit in the use of psychological intervention during hospitalization. Through the play there is a reduction in anxiety and other depressive symptoms, minimizing the emotional stress by promoting the development of coping strategies and management of symptoms.
