Nowadays there has been an increasing demand for psychology professionals for the work in health institutions. Then comes a necessity to understand the field of psychology applied to health. Whereas Health Psychology is a recent area, developed from the 70's, and recognizing that its name is polemics and its performance is comprehensive, this article search to define the Psychology of Health and to delimit its field. Hereby, it was conducted a bibliographic study on the subject, considering the Health Psychology in Brazil and other countries.
