From the perspective of Qualitative Research and Gender's Theories this study aimed to identify and analyze the conceptions of psychologists about the assistance offered to the male public with cancer. We interviewed 13 psychologists who work in specialized oncology services in Belo Horizonte-MG. Results show that the assistance offered to men is permeated by singularities related to the difficulty of mobilizing and adhesion their to the care practices. The process of socialization and construction of masculine identity was described as an important element that contributes to this background. We also observe that the performance of psychologists priority to assistance of women and children with cancer, revealing the difficulty of recognition of men as subjects of care and care practices. It is necessary to include the theme of masculinities in the oncology and to build work processes that enable the recognition of their needs.
