This article aims to contribute to the discussion on the emotional aspects experienced by patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment and the possibility of the psychologist in this context. The search for better quality and the need to construct new possibilities of life contrasts with the idea and the constant risk of death, impotence and loss (partial or total) autonomy caused by kidney failure. The psychologist as a member of the healthcare team, plays a fundamental role in the care of these aspects as they contribute directly to adaptation decisions and adherence to treatment.
