This article is a literature review about of the role of family caregivers of patients with end-stage disease accompanied by a Palliative Home Care Service in order to understand what the national literature has presented nowadays, since it considers relevant for the understanding of this dynamic to think and rethink the existing practice.To develop the study, a bibliographic survey of the past eight years (2006-2013) encountering 46 articles, of which 21 articles and the Manual of Palliative Care were selected for analysis as it covered specifically the family as caregiver at home. Were identified the conceptual aspects of Palliative Home Care and the household actuation as well the family caregiver caracterization and the becoming repercussion of this role, observing the termination influence and the experience of caring and it variations over the family caregiver.
