Abstract

DORO, Maribel Pelaez et al. Psychology and music therapy: a partnership in the psycho affective process of Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit patients. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2015, vol.18, n.1, pp. 105-130. ISSN 1516-0858.

The hematopoietic stem cell transplantation units (HSCT) are recognized as places of high complexity treatments with relevant morbidity incidence. Therefore, it demands therapeutic interventions, which addresses not only the disease but also the patient as the subject of his own story. This article presents the results of a longitudinal experimental study of the psychology care in partnership with music therapy in order to assess, in patients, the effects of the intervention in the following variables: distress, pain, and mood. In analyzing the results, we considered the percentage of patients who perceived changes in the expression of the variables. We concluded this therapeutic intervention enables the integration of the musicality resources and the word, enabling favorable actions in relation to the patients, as they feel the loving care in their condition as a constituting subject and not just as a constituted ill person.
