Abstract

KERNKRAUT, Ana Merzel; SILVA, Ana Lucia Martins da; KARAN, Christiane Hegedus  and  MACHADO, Thiago Amaro. Results of a pilot study and reflections on improvements needed on the development of a quality indicator of health psychology service using the perception of nurses as a mediator of the process. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2015, vol.18, n.2, pp. 62-73. ISSN 1516-0858.

The development of a quality indicator in psychology services in general hospitals is a challenge. We chose to verify the perception of nurses, while mediators of care processes, regarding the psychological care in general hospital. For that, we asked the nurses, first, if the psychologist provides subsidies to their understanding of the patient's emotional dynamic/family, and, second, what is the nurses’ perception of the benefit of psychological care to the patient/family. The study period was from January 2011 to December 2012, from a convenience sample. The development of a quality indicator that is based on perception/nurse satisfaction about the psychologist proved to be complex. The analysis of relations between professionals, the accession of psychologists to a process of evaluation of their work and the structure of an instrument for the assessment of applicant satisfaction with better control these biases, remain a challenge. From this experiment, it was found that the perception of nurse satisfaction on the aid provided by the psychologist can be considered an indicator of quality, but it is necessary to improve the instrument and the collection method to understand what factors make up the satisfaction of the requester.
