PACHECO, Milena Vieira Gouveia de Moraes et al. Characterization and epidemiological profile of a child psychiatry service in Recife. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.2, pp. 136-152. ISSN 1516-0858.

The objective of this study was to characterize the epidemiological profile of children attended at a mental health clinic of a public referral hospital in Pernambuco, and access to interdisciplinary interventions during treatment. Was performed a descriptive study type cross section, using as a data collection strategy a questionnaire that was answered by the ones responsible for the children. Twenty children were followed from August to December 2015. The majority came to the Service referred by a health professional. Among the found psychiatric disorders, the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) was the most prevalent, followed by Neurodevelopment disorders and Autism Spectrum. The children's guardians reported difficulty in access in go there areas of health professionals for monitoring and treatment of these children, burdening the psychiatric care and family. Knowing about the epidemiological profile of the children with major mental disorders in childhood and the structure of mental health services is important to evaluate the quality of care, support actions and programs, in addition to enabling the monitoring and evaluation of these services.
