AFONSO, Luciana Araújo; CARVALHO, Laís Lage de  e  GRINCENKOV, Fabiane Rossi dos Santos. Oncology professional's attitudes towards death: systematic review. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.2, pp. 84-99. ISSN 1516-0858.

Research aimed to accomplish a systematic review of the literature in order to identify negative attitudes and difficulties in the work of oncology health professionals in face of death and/or dying process of patients. Articles were selected through Scielo, Web of Science, PubMed and Virtual Health Library databases. 24 articles were selected and analyzed through descriptive statistics and Content Analysis by Bardin (2016). Among observed results, it is worth highlighting that 20.83% of the researches were conducted in the US. Brazil appeared in fourth position, representing 8.33%. Difficulty of communication was evidenced between the professionals, between them and patients, and among these and family members, representing (45.83%) of the sample, as well as professional illness (25%) and need for theoretical/practical preparation (41.66%). Although the studies indicate that it is possible to identify the existence of negative attitudes and work difficulties of oncology health professionals in the face of death and/or the dying process of patients, future research and discussions about the issue are indicated with the aim of implanting care measures to the professionals, as well as theoretical/practical preparation of oncology professionals, avoiding the sickness of the team.
