Abstract

PIRES, Raphaella Alves et al. Psychology in the context of care production according to the perception of people with cancer. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.1, pp. 328-348. ISSN 1516-0858.

Considered a public health problem, cancer brings an emotional overload to patient and family and can trigger psychological disorders. Psychology professionals are inserted in an interprofessional field that aims, through an integrated team and a broad look that goes beyond the disease, to contemplate the cancer patient and all the surrounding environment. This article aims to analyze the perception of people with oncology disease, from a large hospital of Salvador-Bahia, regarding the insertion of the psychologist in the interprofessional teams and the repercussions of their functions in care production. Method: field study with exploratory and qualitative approach. A semi-structured interview, a field journal and documental analysis were used. Participants: 14 patients who were patients in the hospital for at least 5 days. Through Lourau's institutional analysis, meanings were identified about the proposed objective and categories were formulated. The users showed difficulty to recognize the psychologist as part of the team, but were able to describe their functions and realized as positive the repercussions of their performance in the care produced. The importance of the psychologist's insertion in the interprofessional context was emphasized, as well as the relevance of studies that value the perspective of the users in the health area.
