SILVA, Pollyane Lisita da; NOVAIS, Marina Rodrigues  e  ROSA, Isabela de Oliveira. The psychologist's role in emergency room: the team's view. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.2, pp. 149-169. ISSN 1516-0858.

The research aimed to investigate how the practice of the Hospital Psychologist is perceived in the emergency room of an emergency hospital in Goiânia, from the perspective of psychologists, doctors and nurses working in this sector. A structured brief interview method was used, with a standard question: would you please detail the main functions of the psychologists here in the emergency room. The total sample was 153 participants. The results were categorized according to content analysis method. The hypothesis that there was no satisfactory knowledge, clarity and convergence on the practice of the psychologist among medical professionals and nurses was partially confirmed. Discrepancies were found in understanding of psychology-specific care and lack of knowledge about psychologist practice. However, regarding direct patient and family care activities, mediation and communication support and multidisciplinary work, it was found that knowledge was verified by the medical and nursing staff on the psychologist's main duties in the emergency room. It is hoped that such research can serve as a comparative and guide other activities in emergency rooms in Brazil. In addition, it is desired that the study be replicated to lead to greater data integration and practice design.
