OLIVEIRA, Milene de  and  BENINCA, Ciomara Ribeiro Silva. Psychoeducation intervention with family caregivers of patients submitted to cardiac surgery. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2020, vol.23, n.2, pp. 149-159. ISSN 1516-0858.

It is understood that the surgical indication and hospitalization generate feelings for the patient, especially when the affected organ is the heart. In addition, when a family member is hospitalized, the entire family structure can be changed, also impacting the routine of the main caregiver. This is a research-intervention in health. Ten family caregivers of patients undergoing cardiac surgery participated in the study. The purpose was to understand the experience of being a family caregiver and the possible burden arising from care, through a playful activity as a tool of bonding and communication, facilitating the intervention in Psychoeducation. Thus, it was possible to identify subjective aspects linked to the experience of each caregiver's hospitalization process, resulting in the level of burden presented at the time of the research, pointing out important emotional demands to be considered and worked by health professionals, aiming at prevention and promotion health through the intervention of Psychoeducation.
