The study of finitude is notoriously challenging for human beings and especially to health teams. Thus, the Advance Care Planning (ACP) and Anticipated Directives (AD) present itself as resources to optimize the humanized treat focused on the patient. The objective of this article is to identify the ACP and AD conclusions in the treatment of the critical patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The method of this study is a systematic review of the integrative type. The systematic review occurred by search on eligible articles from 3 databases known: Medline (by Pubmed), Cochrane Central, and Lilacs- Literature in the Health Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean. The main results demonstrated that the most significative ACP upshot was: a) Higher AD completion rates (60,9%); b) less intensive receiving treatment in the final life (56,5%); c) shared decision-making (30,4%); d) better communication between the patient, the family and the doctors (21,4%); e) higher probability to the doctors and relatives understand and get the patient desires (13,00%); f) higher utilization of palliative care services; These answers presented and described the main scientific evidence that addresses the outcomes of ACP and AD in ICU.
