Abstract

ARRUDA, Karla Driele da Silva Alves  and  BRANCO, Andréa Batista de Andrade Castelo. Fluxogram and psychological intervention protocol in the Intensive Care Unit: patients on weaning from ventilation. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2021, vol.24, n.2, pp. 17-32. ISSN 1516-0858.

The transition from mechanical ventilation to spontaneous ventilation generates emotional impacts for patients hospitalized in the ICU. This research aimed to elaborate instruments that support the development of psychological interventions directed at patients in ventilatory weaning. We used the action-research method and these data collection techniques: semi-structured interviews with intensive care psychologists and participant observation with patients in a public hospital. We used a Content Analysis to analyze the data from January to March 2018. The result of the research provided the elaboration of a flowchart and an intervention protocol directed to the psychological care of patients in ventilatory weaning. We conclude that the operationalization and systematization of psychological interventions can provide an improvement in care.

Keywords : hospital psychology; intensive care units; respiratory weaning; psychological intervention.
