REIS, Bianca dos  e  KNAUT, Josiane de Fátima Farias. Characterization of variables involved in analytical-behavioral practice in palliative care. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2022, vol.25, n.1, pp. 29-42. ISSN 1516-0858.  http://dx.doi.org/10.57167/Rev-SBPH.v25.026.

INTRODUCTION: despite technological advances in the medical field, some health conditions can be life-threatening, and it is necessary to promote and enable Palliative Care service practices. This theoretical study aims to characterize variables related to behavior-analytic performance in the context of Palliative Care, through: (1) an analysis of the historical contingencies that can interfere in the discrimination of health and disease, (2) characterization of the process of functional analysis in Palliative Care and (3) description of possible demands for behavioral-analytic interventions in Palliative Care METHOD: For such propositions, bibliographies from two areas were used: Palliative Care and Behavior Analysis, from an unsystematic literature review. Results and Discussion: Variables related to the cultural history of health practices were proposed, such as the relationship between medical conduct and social movements, stimulus and response variables for functional analysis and behavior-analytic performance in behaviors that characterize conspiracy of silence, difficulty in professional communication and complicated grief. The characterization of variables related to work in Palliative Care creates conditions for the evaluation of interventions, demonstrating the importance of the professional in the context CONCLUSION: Such reflections contribute to increase clarity about specific variables in the context of Palliative Care
