Cancer is considered a stigmatizing disease, wrapped in representations of pain, suffering and death. Covid-19 shares the same characteristic, although they have advanced in their knowledge, there is still uncertainty about its outcome. The onset of the pandemic imposed new demands on the health team, therefore, the aim of this paper is to describe the experience of a Psychology Service in an oncology reference hospital in the state of Bahia (Brazil), during the pandemic. This is an experience report, taken from March 2020 to July 2021. The role of Psychology in outpatient clinics, intensive care unit, home care service, adult and pediatric wards was collectively reconfigured, since the initial impact to the current possibility of work. It is concluded that, during the pandemic, the scenario of suffering, loss and grief of various types was enhanced, making work in oncology even more challenging.
