Abstract

GOMES, Antonio Marcos Tosoli; OLIVEIRA, Denize Cristina de  and  MARQUES, Sérgio Corrêa. Social representation of the nurse’s work in health programme. Psicol. teor. prat. [online]. 2004, vol.6, n.spe, pp. 79-90. ISSN 1516-3687.

The object of this study is the work of nurses in health program; it aims at describing and analyzing nurses professional praxis inside health program. The theory of social representations, according to Moscovici (1978) and Jodelet (2001), has been adopted as theoretical and methodological referential. It is a qualitative study that had been developed in the inner part of Rio de Janeiro. Deep interviews had been applied to 30 nurses from the basic health system. The data was analyzed through ALCESTE software lexical analysis. The data have shown that there is tension in professional praxis between liberty of action and prescriptive actions, need for scientific knowledge for programmatic work and holistic and full care as nurses self-procedures. It is concluded that nurses have an important role in programmatic work, especially when defining and working their self-roles using delegated actions as tools for their praxis.
