Abstract

FIGUEIREDO, Mário Gomes de  and  BORLOTI, Elizeu Batista. Solving problem in attention ambulatorial of schizophrenia. Psicol. teor. prat. [online]. 2005, vol.7, n.2, pp. 207-238. ISSN 1516-3687.

After the psychiatric reformation many families of users of mental health services come to face problems related to ambulatorial settings of treatment. This article analyses solving verbalizations of problems in ambulatorial settings of treatment to schizophrenic patients, emitted by their families during a discussion about those problems in a context of a CAPS type II (Psychosocial Attention Center). It was interpreted which of those verbalizations should act as a rule in solving the identified problems. Five families from popular social contexts participated of sessions of familiar discussions about problems that they were facing. Their verbal interactions were recorded and transcripted, and analyzed according to solving problem and rule governed behavior theories, as proposed by Radical Behaviorism. The results points out that patients’ aggressive behavior and their refuse to take medicaments were verbalized as a problem by all five families. Usually the solving problems verbalizations were descriptions of successful actions in past situations experienced by families. Data suggest that these descriptions, in same cases, act as a rule when families come to face similar problems.
