Abstract

GOMIDE, Henrique Pinto et al. Stereotypes among health professionals toward alcoholics in Juiz de Fora-MG, Brazil. Psicol. teor. prat. [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.1, pp. 171-180. ISSN 1516-3687.

This study's main purpose was to make an analysis of some possible relations between stereotypes' scale concepts adapted by Babor et al. (1986) to Alcoholics, which applied demographic variables in a sample of health professionals of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The general stereotype's scale was showed an average of 27.85 (S.D. 12.90) and a median of 26. There weren't found differences among living together with alcoholics and motivation of health professionals. Even if there was noticed a difference between health professionals' median with higher education (M = 21) and with technical education (M = 29), Mann-Whitney (p < 0.01; Z = 4.16) and gender, it wasn't noticed any significant scale correlations between age and time of work. Health professionals' sterotypes of certain specific conditions and their prompt analysis have importance in order to know if the final service with patient could be affected by.
