Cancer treatment can negatively affected the patient's body image in many aspects: appearance and sensorial changes, psychosocial problems. For women with breast cancer, research on body image has shown its importance and instruments to assess this construct are emerging. The aim of this study was to gather the body image instruments for breast cancer women and perform a critical analysis about them. Six Data Basis were checked: Web of science, Scopus, Pubmed, PsicInfo, Scielo and Bireme. Four studies were selected and the results revealed that there is a shortage instrument to evaluate body image in women with breast cancer in Brazil. In addition there is a limitation on the dimensions of body image assessed, none evaluates the perceptual dimension of body image. Some instruments have statistical methods validation more robust than others, but all have good psychometric properties, provided they are applied to populations for which they were developed.
