This article approaches the concept of psychological trauma in children and adolescents who were victims of sexual abuse, from the perspective of the girls in situation of vulnerability. It is a qualitative research, carried out with adolescents, through focal groups, aiming to understand the perspective of sexual abuse and its effects on children and adolescents. Results point out that sexual abuse is understood as a traumatic event, described as a situation that leaves deep marks, since it violates rights. Among its effects, the girls describe behaviors that denote the traumatic situation, such as isolation, offishness, fear, which are described as marks present after the abusive situation. Final considerations emphasize the relevance of coping with situations of violence, stimulating and strengthening the assistance network, once it is considered the only way to elaborate the traumatic situation caused by the distortion of the relationship that the abusive situation has created.
