The loss of a child disturbs the family balance. In order to resume life after the loss, mothers need to express their feelings and act spontaneously. This study investigates the maternal experience of women who lost their young children. This study employed a semi-structured interview and Procedure Drawing of families with stories (DF-E). The data was analyzed by means of the method of free material inspection. The mothers encountered difficulty in expressing their feelings, which worsened the experience of the loss and the grief process, making it difficult for these women to be mothers of living children. The suitable environment showed to be essential for the mothers express grief, so that their trust their ability to be spontaneous and take care of their children, giving new meaning for life after the loss.
