Abstract

ALVES, Talita de Araújo  and  LAROS, Jacob Arie. Propiedades psicométricas del SON-R 6-40 en personas con deficiencia intelectual. Psicol. teor. prat. [online]. 2017, vol.19, n.2, pp. 151-163. ISSN 1516-3687.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/1980-6906/psicologia.v19n2p151-163.

Intelligence tests are valuable tools for the diagnosis of intellectual disabilities. The present study aimed at investigating the psychometrics properties of the SON-R 6-40 when administered to people with intellectual disabilities. The SON-R 6-40 consists of four subtests: Analogies and Categories (reasoning subtests) and Mosaics and Patterns (performance subtests). 50 people with an intellectual disability participated in the test. This group had an average IQ score of 70 (SD = 2.1). Exploratory factor analysis indicated two factors: the first being composed of the performance subtests, and the second of the reasoning subtests. The average score of men on the performance factor was significantly higher than the average score of women (p < .01; Cohen’s d = 0.58). The obtained results give support to previous studies of the SON-R 6-40 and suggest the psychometric adequacy of the test scores for the assessed group.

Keywords : intelligence; intellectual disability; diagnosis; factor analysis; psychometrics.
