OBJECTIVE: To carry out a systematic review of scientific articles on job satisfaction and alcohol use. METHOD: Articles were searched in the databases MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science, and Scopus, in the English, Spanish and Portuguese languages. The review was based on the PRISMA criteria, from 2008 to 2017. RESULTS: Evidence of a moderate positive correlation was found in cross-cutting, but that changes over time, and that the relationship between job satisfaction and use of alcohol is moderated by burnout, working conditions, job demand and control, relationship with the leader, social support and work climate.
