Contemporary Japanese thought (Kyoto School) emerges and engages in dialogue with Western philosophical tradition. Nishida is confronted with the main problems in the history of Western philosophy. With Tanabe, the Kyoto School comes into contact with Heidegger, who becomes the main Western interlocutor with all subsequent generations: Hisamatsu and Nishitani, Ueda and Tsujimura and, finally, Ohashi. The philosophical issues addressed by Heidegger, especially his reflection on language, become the main points of departure for the start of a dialogue between contemporary Japanese thought and Western philosophy.
