BIRMAN, Joel. Descartes, Freud, and the experience of madness . Nat. hum. [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.2, pp. 5-21. ISSN 1517-2430.

The aim of this paper is of recomposing the very important theoretical debate between Derrida and Foucault, about the experience of madness that happened between 1963-1991. This debate was accomplished in three times. Beyond to put in prominence the places of the psychiatry and the psychoanalysis in the History of madness, the debate put in question too two different ways of understanding the philosophy. The effect of psychoanalysis in the History of madness was put in question by Foucault and Derrida in different ways.
