SYLLA, Bernhard. Hope deposited in language: a passing phenomenon?. Nat. hum. [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.1, pp. 54-72. ISSN 1517-2430.

In the first part of my analysis I will focus on Heidegger's work, particularly on the crucial role that language plays in regard to the question whether it is possible to save mankind and to redeem Being from its total forgetfulness. In the second part, I intend to show that the hope placed on the transformational power of language is a common aspect of a considerable number of philosophies of the last century. However, the attention given to this theme seems to have been exhausted at the beginning of the twenty-first century. There are several signs that imply that technological making and/or return to the image are gradually taking the place of the language instance as topoi around which new societal challenges are discussed.

Palavras-chave : language; transformational power; technology; image.
