In this study, we present an analysis of the multiple meanings of "death" in its link to excess life, eroticism, sadism, and destruction in Irene Gonzalez Freire's Tu nombre escrito en el agua. For this purpose, using a series of resources from the studies of philosophy, sociology and literary criticism, it demonstrates the spiral construction of eroticism, love and violence in the evolution of the characters in the novel.
