Abstract

AZCONA, Maximiliano. Sobre el lugar de la sugestión en la clínica psicoanalítica: una relectura freudiana de la crítica de Adolf Grünbaum. Nat. hum. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.1, pp. 162-185. ISSN 1517-2430.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17648/2175-2834-v22n1-346.

This paper is organized around Adolf Grünbaum's criticisms of Freudian psychoanalysis, focusing on one of them: the role of the analyst's suggestion in the validation of clinical data that support his causal hypotheses. I will show that in the very development of Freudian ideas we can find a precise approach to this issue, which Grünbaum has not taken into account and which should be reviewed. I conclude that  the problem of epistemic contamination via suggestion does not constitute a major obstacle in the path of psychoanalytic validation from the data clinically obtained. From this analysis, emerges an important methodological implication for research in psychoanalysis: contrary to what many epistemologists and psychoanalysts have extracted as a corollary of Grünbaum's criticism, extra-clinical designs (of undoubted inner value), do not become essential for the establishment of better empirical evidence of psychoanalytic hypotheses.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Suggestion; Grünbaum.
