Abstract

FONSECA, Eduardo R da. Freud and the human destructivity: all the demons on the streets. Nat. hum. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp. 171-188. ISSN 1517-2430.

The pandemic and the social isolation brought us back to old philosophical and psychoanalytic issues linked to human destructiveness and the meaning of culture in nature as a whole. Denialism fueled by false information, especially, forces us to think about the role of rationality in this context and the reasons why people act against themselves, despite all available information that recommends isolation as the only alternative to the spread of COVID-19. The purpose of this article is to reflect on these issues and what lies behind them, namely, the irrationality inherent to the existence and to the life of impulses from Freud's point of view.

Keywords : Repetição; Pulsão; Pandemia; Isolamento social; Destrutividade.
