Abstract

ALMEIDA, Alexandre Patrício  and  CHECCHIA, Ana Karina Amorim. The concept of false self in the educational area: on the difficulties of finding the "self" in the educational process. Nat. hum. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp. 204-218. ISSN 1517-2430.

This article is based on the question of the capacity of the school to offer the possibility of the child being itself, in its true essence (existential and subjective), during the educational process. For this purpose, the concept of Winnicott of false self will be used in order to unfold the proposed problem. It describes, firstly, the definition of false self under the Winnicottian perspective. After that, to enrich the debate, will be taken as a starting point, the tale of Rubem Alves (2010) entitled "Pinocchio in reverse." Finally, we suggest an approximation of the moral of the story with the idea of Winnicott on the healthy development of the personality of the human being, whose principle is the capacity to be, and to live the experiences in a significant (and appropriate).

Keywords : childhood; false self; school; learning; Winnicott.
