Abstract

SOUZA, Pedro de. From the missing biopolitics to the ones that exceeds: the pandemic in Brazil. Nat. hum. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp. 19-36. ISSN 1517-2430.

In this text I intend to analytically take the Foucaultian concept of biopolitics in order to open the movement that now includes now excludes certain forms of life in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The question is to know what forms of life are taken into consideration when the challenges faced by managers of the government order lead to measures guided by a neoliberal economic logic. I must work methodologically on dispersed enunciative acts delivered in different instances of knowledge. From the start, I adopt the assumption that voices of knowledge - politics. statistics, biomedical -, do not always coincide in the way of making the pandemic phenomenon say and signify. The analytical device, therefore, must align the words about the pandemic of the new coronavirus with the way of understanding them. I want to show the currentness of the concept of biopolitics as an operator of the analysis of a certain set of power relations historically situated in the present of an ongoing pandemic.

Keywords : Biopolitics; Speech; Government; Pandemic.
