Abstract

YAZBEK, André Constantino. Sovereignty and violence biopolitics neoliberal: revisiting the paradigm of war in Michel Foucault's thought. Nat. hum. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp. 46-62. ISSN 1517-2430.

This paper brings forth the notions of "war of races" and "biopower", originally discussed in Michel Foucault's lectures at the Collège de France entitled "Il faut défendre la Société" (1976), to meditate on the relationship between neoliberalism and political violence. In this regard, it is of my interest to present how the biopower matter is linked to the violence amongst races according to Foucault, in order to analyze our current (neo)liberal politic in terms of racial and colonial paradigms.

Keywords : Michel Foucault; sovereignty; violence; races; biopower; neoliberal governmentality.
