CICOTTE, Luiz Guilherme Nunes  e  PAVINI, Renan. Trangression, resistence, subjectivity and art in Foucault. Nat. hum. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp. 179-190. ISSN 1517-2430.

The theme of art crosses Michel Foucault's thought in at least two moments. In the 1960s, when Foucault was influenced by authors such as Blanchot, Bataille, and Mallarmé and the problem of art was posed as a critical alternative to knowledge and subjectivity was put into question through the notions of transgression, limit, and the being of language. In the 1980s, when the philosopher understands modern art as resistance, because of his Other lifestyle, what Foucault called artist life, brings a scandalous existence and the mark of the courage of truth, in a "revival" of ancient cynicism. Based on this distinction, the present article seeks to think how art, in each of these periods, is placed in a different way in Foucault's thought, mainly from the subjectivity issue.
