Abstract

The objectives of the present article are: to describe the symptoms of depression, to explain the Cognitive Model, to propose a treatment in group and eventually show the obtained results. This treatment in group have structured sessions and the group should be composed from four to eight patients and condueted by two therapists. The average number of sessions in this program run from 12 to 20. Treatment effectiveness was evaluated by the scores of Beck for depression and anxiety questionnaire. Three groups were accomplished and obtained satisfactory initial results, demonstrating that the treatment proposal can be effective, becoming a solution for patients' wait in public institutions.
