Abstract

MOROZ, Melania; RUBANO, Denize Rosana; RODRIGUES, Maria Ester  and  LUCCI, Marcos Antonio. Verbal behavior: analysis of Brazilian scientific production published between 1994 - 1998. Rev. bras. ter. comport. cogn. [online]. 2001, vol.3, n.1, pp. 69-82. ISSN 1517-5545.

This paper analyzed part of Brazilian scientific production published between 1994 and 1998, with the purpose of identifying how the radical behaviorist community has dealt with the study of verbal behavior. Sixty-two (62) texts from periodicals and collectanea were analyzed and some aspects stood out: 1) there was greater emphasis on theoretical work (comprising 61.3% of the material studied)- as to the empirical work, most of it was designed to investigate basic processes; 2) private events, rule- governed behavior and stimulus equivalence were the themes studied more frequently. Concerning the discussion of data, Brazilian scientific production was compared to the foreign production, with the identification of converging points and challenges for the behaviorist community that are still present in the study of verbal behavior.

Keywords : Verbal behavior; scientific production; documentary study.
