Abstract

ROCHA, Margarette Matesco  and  FREITAS, Maura Glória de. Intervention for adoptive parents under the behavior analysis perspective. Rev. bras. ter. comport. cogn. [online]. 2011, vol.13, n.2, pp. 33-45. ISSN 1517-5545.

This work aims to present strategies used during the initial phase of an intervention program for adoptive parents. This phase was named Sensitiveness and the objective was to mischaracterize adoption as a risk towards the children problematic behaviors. Therefore, to develop the program, two convenience groups were designed, composed by eight parents each, whose ages were between 26 and 55 years old. The procedure was similar for both groups, developed in six sessions and three stages: initial evaluation, intervention and content program evaluation. According to parent's reports, adoption had a clear influence over their educational practices. After the intervention, family interaction's roles concerning the development and perpetuation of children's behavior were recognized, also demystifying adoption as a probable cause of problem behaviors.

Keywords : adoption; risk factor; behavioral analysis.
