This study discusses a few of the aspects of the relationship between language and uneasiness, emphasizing above all the associative power that characterize the linguistic sign. Among the topics choosen to demonstrate the reactions of uneasiness caused by the use of verbal language, are the linguistic taboos and the dialect diversity. The interpretation is basically associated to the motivation thesis of sign, and at the point redimension the theory of arbitrariness formulated by De Saussure, upon understanding that meaning does not resume in the thought or the mental image of the object, but includes aspects of an affectionate and imaginative nature, as well as values of social orders.
